Elian was a citizen, we have a standing immigration law that allows all
the boat people *from Cuba* to stay here, and it doesn't matter how you
became a citizen, just that you are.

If Clinton chose to ship a Elian back who's already here legally...
then we can do it to others that have parents that will be back in their
home country. If it was legal once it is legal 12 million times.

MOM... had she made it would have been here legally. Elian was here
Legally.

Any kid who's parents are deported would be here without a parent. The
baby can go home to their deported parent or the baby can stay here if
the parents don't want the baby.

There is no difference.... any child can be sent "to" their parent in
another country.

If the mother is NOT legal, send the mother home. She can take the baby
or leave it behind.....

My point is that Clinton has laid the legal precedence. A baby/Minor
child that is here legally, can be sent to a parent that wants it or
sent with a parent that is being extradited.

Not true. Elian was not a citizen. Nobody ever claimed he was a citizen. He
father claimed paternal rights after his mother drowned at sea, and the
mother's relatives here tried to adopt. Paternal rights won the day. That
was the only issue.

That's patenly false. One, Clinton let the father have custody of his child.
Two, children born here are US citizens the moment they are born, and can't
be deported anywhere. A foreign parent could claim parental rights when the
other parent passes away, but the citizenship of the child is not forfeited,
the kid simply moves to another country.

He was not a naturalized citizen, and certainly not a natural born citizen.
Elian was sent home to be with his father, who claimed custodianship after
Elian's mother died.

Yes, in theory they could, but the parents are usually allowed to stay with
the citizen-child instead of being deported. The citizen-child would be
exiled or expelled if he was sent to the parent's home country, and we
simply don't exile or expel our citizens. .

We never send children away because the parents are illegal immigrants. We
usually allow the parents to stay and maintain custodial rights to the child
they had here. That's the law. Period.

Read the 14th Amendment. It is the amendment that is responsible for the
anchor babies, and anchor babies are a very real issue because there is a
term for it, we call it anchor baby.

And if you had a clue, you would see that I didn't disagree with your
position on birthright citizenship. The problem, as you stated is the
"anchor" status. There is absolutely no reason that a US citizen child of
illegals should have a bearing on the parents immigration status. Deporting
the parents does not mean that the child is deported. The parents might
decide to take the child with them...or not.

That's basically what happens, however the path to citizenship for the
parents is easier with an anchor baby.

Elian was not an anchor baby but was, in fact, a Cuban.
