That chart merely shows GM had a higher percentage of the smaller market
back then. GM today still sells more vehicles than they did in day of yor.

The premise of the article was who sells the better vehicles in teh US.
You guys may well believe Toyotas are better, but American buyers say GM and
Ford, as well, are better when it comes time to spend their money. They
both still outsell Toyota in the US.

It is nice for a runner to say. 'I did better in this race than I have in
any race I've ever run.' But if he didn't win, he still lost every race.no
matter their standing at the finish . ;)

I wonder if price has anything to do with it. What do you think?

From: Mike Hunter on
What I said was logic indicates GM must be best in the minds of the most
buyers, since more buyer choose to buy what they sell. over any other. GM
is a car company. Ford is a car company. Toyota is a car company. GM out
sells Ford and both outsold Toyota and they did so by millions of vehicles
in 2006. They are still outselling Toyotas in 2007.

Pretty basic stuff here. Logic says more buyers must think the Camry is the
best midsize car and more buyers must think the Civic is the best small car.
However more buyers most think GM cars, in general, are better than either,
or any others, since GM sells more cars in the US than any other. The Camry
is the best selling car in the US not the Corolla. The Civic is the best
selling SMALL car in the US not the Corolla. The Corollas, sold around the
world at the same time over the years, are and were not the same car, only
the same name

You however are free to continue to believe whatever you choose.

I'm willing to give Detroit a chance but only after I see evidence that
they're building cars that measure up. Right now, Detroit product is very
inexpensive. If it's not also cheap, it's a deal.

But I haven't seen that evidence, yet.

My wife agrees with you. She guarantees it will be a cold day in Hell
before another Ford graces our driveway.

If our CEO sees that the market for one of our products is expanding and our
unit volume and profitability is not expanding with it, then I can tell you
the names of the managers for that product:

They are History and Gone

And GM is cutting price and their share is plummeting? Only the densest
fool would think this was a characteristic of the "best" car company and I
can also tell you the name of that densest fool:

That is "mike hunt"
