If Bud had commercials like Toyota Tundra commercials, the guys would be able to fly after they took a sip of beer.... Ed

The 8088 was based on 8086, but had a different (8-bit external bus). I made a mistake. There is no need to call me names. >> The point is that IBM designed the original architecture that >> became the mainstay of home and business desktop computing > > No, they didn't. True, the chip descended from the 8080, but, as far as I know, the architecture of the computer, like the chips and bus were all new and made by IBM engineers, except for the 8088. > Learn your history. > > cordially, as always, Cordially my butt. When you used some of the original equipment (I have used regularly computers based on the 6502, 8088, 186, 286, 386 (Solaris Unix), 386sx, 486, Pentium I, Pentium II, Pentium III, Pentium IIIM, Pentium IV, Power PC (Mac OS X) and AMD Turan all running some flavor of windows or MS DOS (except as noted)). All I have to remember. It is not like I have to go and look this up, which is easy to do with Wikipedia. Jeff

Commercials, like most facets of modern life, are so much BS, and if one believes that Toyotas can stop on a dime, Lexuses can outrun falling cars, Dodge trucks have so much power that it's hazardous to jump start an old GM car with one, and Mitsubishis can go through city streets at a speed greater than the land speed record, they must also believe in Copperfield's magic and Paris Hilton's intellect. |
