made an offer: retract the statement and exhonorate yourself with your own
bullet, or take one of ours.

Claus von Stauffenberg tried to kill Hitler in the bunker with a bomb in
Operation Valkyrie, but it's thought someone moved the briefcase not
knowing what was in it and thereby sheilded Der Furher from an early end.
von Stauffenberg saw fighting was futile and Hitler as a madman and was
trying to wager for peace.

I think Dietrich Bonhoffer was some kind of resistance leader, but I'm not
sure.
