Bingo!! The replacement fighter for the F-102 was the F-106 Delta Dart
which had the engine the F-102 should have had. Most pilots that flew F-
106s wish they had one in their garage. The 102 was a rather sluggish AC
in handling but we had one clocked at over 1200mph on Dewline radar. It
was in a slight dive losing about 10,000 feet of altitude over 50-60
miles IIRC.
