3000 is too frequent. You'll actually shorten the life of the engine
with too-frequent oil changes.

5000 is fine. Don't waste your money on synthetic oil unless you're
operating your vehicle in extremely cold weather. There has never been a
proven advantage of synthetic oil in non-high performance engines
operated in mild weather.

My 87 has 275,000 miles on it. I run Mobil 1. I change it when I think
of it. I have had the head off because of a water leak. I still can
see some crosshatch in the cylinders. I have gone 10,000 miles and
more. Now that I don't drive the truck much I change the oil once in a
while. I think I changed it last year. No issues with sludge at all. I
live in Atlanta which does not have harsh winters that may affect
sludge build up. When I was a kid all the older cars we took valve
covers off of had a lot of sludge. Well not my dad's engines but the
clunkers teenagers and young adults tended to buy. Probably did not
have oil changes done often enough but that was also in the cold old
days of Ohio. Yes I do need to change the oil in the tractor and the
Toyota. Once a year whether it needs it or not.

Shorten the life of your drain plug threads- Maybe! Engine- Never!

Nonsense!! Please substantiate from a reliable scientific authority that
changing oil at that frequency shortens engine life.

How about in summer. Synthetic oils stand up to engine temperatures much
better than non synthetics.
