From: Casey on 25 Sep 2008 13:18 Hi everyone, I drive a 2007 Tacoma PreRunner 2WD 6cyl double cab and I'm wondering about oil change intervals. The manual says a 5,000 mile interval is recommended. Is this for synthetic oils or all oils? I use standard 5w30 oil. Should I keep with my every 3000 mile change or is it safe to move to the 5000 changes? Mostly city/highway driving, occasionally pulling small boats or bed loads on dusty roads. What do you guys think? Anyone experimented? Casey

From: johngdole on 26 Sep 2008 00:55 All oils are on the 5000 mile interval. Toyota instituted this in 2004 for *all* their products because of sludge concerns. Even the Lexus line is on the 5000 interval, which kinda sucks. 3 mo/3000 miles is a better bet. Dino oil works fine for this interval. Just make sure you use a good oil filter. I prefer Bosch Filtech or Purolator PureOne. (I don't care for the new texture on the PureOne or the cheapos Toyota imports from southeast Asia). http://www.boschautoparts.com/Products/Filters/PremOilFilters.htm http://www.pureoil.com/ On Sep 25, 10:18 am, Casey <caseyhar...(a)comcast.net> wrote: > Hi everyone, > > I drive a 2007 Tacoma PreRunner 2WD 6cyl double cab and I'm wondering > about oil change intervals. > > The manual says a 5,000 mile interval is recommended.
