The cost per pound is not an indicator of the value of the flights.

Perhaps, in your opinion. Apparently you believe robots can THINK, but men
not robots invented the technology that NASA has provided to our society.
LOL

Why do you think that? Robots, without thinking, have provided far more
data about Earth, Mars, Venus, Jupiter and all other bodies in our solar
system, except, perhaps the moon, than astronauts and cosmonauts did.

Please explain why it is worth spending the hundreds of billions of
dollars on manned space flight to go to the moon rather than use that
money to monitor earth and explore other worlds with robots and other
ways the money can be spent.

Perhaps after the technology has been developed by men, and THAT costs
money, unless you believe robots can reproduce smarter robots.

It is the TECHNOLOGY developed by NASA and the space industry that has been
passed on to the world, that has made the investment worthwhile. Just ONE
example is micro surgery, that has saved thousands, if not millions of lives
in the US and around the world.

I know you are not an engineer, but even should realize the fine automobiles
we have today can be traced back to engineering developed for the space
program.

Thanks for showing how PAST expenditures have improved lives. Except,
Microsurgery was not developed for NASA. It was largely developed to
repair the wounds sustained in war. In fact, war has led to many
advances in surgery.

Likewise, what specific things in cars were developed for NASA? However,
you have yet to show why future expenditures are worthwhile. In fact,
you haven't even shown that past expenditures were cost effective. If
the money were spent on other things, would we have made more
inventions? We're talking about hundreds of billions of dollars or even
trillions of dollars.

And, it is not like NASA is getting less money even with Obama's cuts.
It is getting more money.
