That was what I was thinking when we drove these two newer ones. But they
didn't even run that well. The 2001 Corolla S couldnt get out of its own
way compared to my 93 wagon! It had about 1/2 the pickup! In a "sport"
model???

In the 2001 Corolla, the "sport" model is more of a trim level, not a
horsepower or torque boost.

No something MUST have been wrong with that one.

We went to see a 2002 Corolla LE today and it drove so nicely we put a
deposit on it. I'm taking it to a mechanic tomorrow.

It's in very nice outside condition, has been detailed so the engine looks
great, has 114k miles on it, automatic, air, cruise, and is $4900.

Now IT has more pickup than our wagon, because it's the same sized engine but
less weight. THAT was what we expected. That S model must have had something
wrong with it.

With that one we saw Friday, I suspect it wasnt downshifting when floored.

According to this article 2002 to 2007 model years are rated most reliable
due to the least number of repair claims. I have been using Google news
notification to monitor any new recalls on Corollas and so far there have
been no recalls on these model years.
