Mad thought: how about wrapping the tubing in alumin(i)um foil to several thicknesses of foil during heating? Close off the foil's ends to ensure the very hot air stays inside. -- Andrew Stephenson

You'll have to turn the wire so all sides get heated. If a part starts to discolor, it's too hot, so move the lighter. Also make sure you use the correct size so it won't be too big once it shrinks down. Each size can only shrink so far. Make a nice, flat solder join and use tubing that just fits over the solder. Put the piece of tubing on BEFORE you make your join!!!! -- TeGGeR?

I could learn a lot from Rick! Tell him I said hi, and will have to do some digging to find the group. Thanks -- Ray O (correct punctuation to reply) |
