What you don't know is that there are thousands of tax loopholes that
are are implemented to lower the taxable amount long before a person
figures out how much to pay in taxes. What is considered taxable
Estate money is what is left after business transfers, gifts,
bequests, charity to the old school, things we can't know. Who gets
taxed are the people with little or no business or family connections
to the Estate in question.

Trust me, the tax percentages on the books are bogus, mainly because
the Congressmen and Senators who write and modify these laws are rich
and worth millions. They write the laws to protect themselves and
their wealth.

You may ask why would poor people and middles class rabidly support
tax laws that have a negative effect on their meager wealth. The
republicans and neo-cons have convinced the great unwashed to think "I
could get rich tomorrow". Yeah, right.

America is a wild west town that disarms the town folk but lets the
gunslingers walk around armed and dangerous.

And, you don't think the Clintons are in that group?

When John Kerry made his tax returns available, on the state form he had
NOT checked, "pay tax based on the higher rate."

(they actually have a selection that allows you to pay MORE tax in Mass
than the standard 5.25% rate!)

Bullshit. Absolute bullshit.

I made a mistake on my Mass tax form and they're hounding me for $400, now
up to $1,425 with 'penalties and interest'. I forgot to take a deduction
that would have made it so they owe ME money, and they're hounding me like
I was Rockefeller.

I was unemployed most of that year and made $9700....

Why would you expect a democrat to voluntarily pay a higher tax rate
but not a republican?

I'm talking federal taxes. The states are out of control trying to
find money for the retirement payouts and royal medical coverage for
state, local, and teacher retirees. You are taling $400.00 compared to
millions.
