For the most part, I agree, but in the case of automobiles, most people
don't know nearly as much as they think they do setting "default" settings
make a lot of sense.

Now, none of my AE10x boxes automatically turns on the AC when I turn on the
defroster. (1993-1995) But my old S10 did (1995) My current AE101 does
not. As a matter of fact, sometimes the window steams over if I turn on the
defroster and don't punch the AC button. This time of year, I usually
have AC on all the time anyway.

I want an AE92...

If your windows are fogging up you must be operating in the "recirc" of
"Max" mode. All vehicles, with factory installed AC, turns it on to
defrost the windshield with warmed dehumidified air.

All of my AE10x machines have a separate AC button and if I turn on Defrost,
I have to hit the AC button for the AC to go on.

No it's not on max recirc. I leave my car on half recirc half fresh year
round. The only controls I change are the heat (cold in summer, hot in
winter) and the director control, which is usually set to vent in summer and
defrost in winter. And of course the A/C which I turn off of a winter most
of the time. I used to do that with my old TE72 long hatchback, too. And
the TE72 before that, and the KE30 before that with no AC.
