I would not spray lithium grease as it can damage the rubber gasket.

I use it only on metal parts. I use the little tube that comes with the can
so it goes only where I want it to go. I used to think the little plastic
tube was a swizzle stick, but I discovered otherwise.

Lithium grease can be used in the door latches if you use the snorkel tube
but I've found that it tends to get gummy after a while.
