Interesting, but who told you to say "warmists"? That sort of sloganism is
beyond your capabilities. Who invented the word today or during the past few
days? AM radio Garlique or matress salesman?

Who?

That's easy, the mattress salesman, warmth being one of the most basic
of the needs of life, and what could be a better place to be than in a
nice warm bed?
The mattress salespeople are going to make a bundle on global warming
and they know it, they probably started the whole thing and Al Gore is
just riding the wave.
Maslow's hierarchy is one of the first theories taught to marketing
students as a basis for understanding consumers' motives for action.
Marketers have historically looked towards consumers' needs to define
their actions in the market. If producers design products meeting
consumer needs, consumers will more often choose those products over
those of competitors. Whichever product better fulfills this void will
be chosen more frequently, thus increasing sales. This makes the model
relevant to Transpersonal business studies.

I got that term from a newspaper headline months ago. I was trying to find
a word that would make for a short subject line.

I could have termed it, "CRU scientists involved in Climategate scandal
sought Big Oil money", but that would have been too long.

Here's some of the text of the emails where CRU asked for funding from
Shell, BP, Amoco and Esso:

(From Mick Kelly to Mike Hulme, both at CRU)
"Mike,
Had a very good meeting with Shell yesterday. Only a minor part of the
agenda, but I expect they will accept an invitation to act as a strategic
partner and will contribute to a studentship fund though under certain
conditions."

The other oil companies are mentioned later in the emails.

I'd like to see anybody now dismiss the skeptics as being in the thrall of
"Big Oil".
