Mine ('07 Camry LE) does the same thing if I don't have the temperature
setting all the way over to cold. I prefer recirculating air that's in
the cabin, because it seems like if I keep pulling air from the outside, I
get a runny nose and start sneezing. The air filter thing is just a
selling point. It doesn't actually work, by the way.

It's probably designed to work that way. The recirculate in most cars was
meant to actually get the air colder and less humid than you could get it
if you were sucking in hot air from the outside. I know when I run on
Max/Recirculate, the air is, indeed, colder. So the people who designed
the electronics might have assumed that if you don't actually have the
temperature set to be very cold, then you don't really want or need to
recirculate the air.

I haven't actually tested this with a timer, but I notice that if I set my
temperature higher on the thermostat, it takes less time for recirculate
to be deactivated.

08 Avalon--the recirc system has a mind of it's own. It's obviously
programmed to be OFF\ON as a function of: Outside air temp, cabin air temp.
temp control setting and whatever else it takes into consideration. I think
I've figured out some of it's quirks but not all of them.

Does the manual as in RTFM have much to say? Or the applicable web site for
the vehicle?

Owner's manual says very little--some words about when it will open/close
but not enough to understand how/when it performs it's functions.

Most people do now, it appears to me. I think so many newsreaders now
have the ability to hide quoted text that people just hit reply and start
typing, then hit send without any consideration at all.

I see people who don't trim their posts much like gorillas who don't
realize they haven't actually cleaned their butts after their last dump,
and even pointing out the lack of trimming to the offending posters
doesn't do any good. They just keep walking around with their
doodie-caked asses.

Occasionally I will run through a message and insert replies with the
inteintion of trimming, but sometimes I forget to go back and trim certain
areas. But generally, in 95% of my posts, I trim.
