We used to write at least 3 product reports per month, and most months, we
had a specific subject or survey to write about.

The only reason I know that Toyotas are supposed to come from the factory
with the body panels properly aligned is that one of the product reports I
had to write about was body panel alignment. We had to measure body panel
alignment on a number of vehicles, including vehicles in dealer stock and 5
year old customer vehicles that were assembled in Japan, some were assembled
in North America, and the others were competitor models.

I only had to look at something like 20 vehicles so my personal sample size
was small, but Toyota body panel alignment is pretty much unchanged after 5
years. I did notice that the doors on 5 year old Detroit 3 products with 2
door body styles sagged quite a bit more than Toyotas, but the doors on the
Detroit 3 products were probably twice the size and weight.

I don't know why Honda sets the door a little high but I cold probably
adjust 1 mm in about 2 seconds.

Maybe a trick, but I think the trick is on me...The dealer wants to readjust
the doors..Yea, I remember replacing door hinges years ago on...
Forget it!

I'll just live with it

Again, shame on me

Why "shame on me" when the dealer is going to get Toyota to pay for the
work?

You should be more ashamed for not taking advantage of FREE fixes to your
car.

No new car is guaranteed to be perfect. That's why all new cars come with
warranties. You paid for that warranty in the purchase price of your new
car. You knew that, no?
