A lot of manufacturers are doing this now. Er, putting the antenna in the
glass, that is. I suppose most of them are attacking people on the lots,
too.

I know they tried the antenna thing in the 80's, and it didn't work too
well. My Supra has both.

It's only $345 add-on.

Get one of these

http://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/XM-onyX-Satellite-Radio-Receiver.aspx

and save $270. I have mine hard-wired into the car stereos on the Mazda,
the Supra and the Scion, and I really can't tell the difference between
being wired in or using the FM tuner. Both sound excellent, and usually no
commercials.

One drawback: Rush refuses to go on satellite, so you're stuck with Beck,
Wilkow, and Hannity...

He's on after Hannity. When I'm out *THAT* late, I listen to him.

They got excited when I swapped a radio from a car in the lot with a
customers's radio with my Swiss Army Knife, and I was gonna authorize the
repair. They would probably not appreciate a customer doing it ;-)

Actually, after you've done it once, it is pretty easy, especially in warm
weather when all the plastic tabs aren't brittle and break off like they do
during winter in Chicago. Ironically, service skills could also be used for
boosting car radios ;-)

One of my early tasks was to write down the mileage on about a dozen cars in
order to schedule maintenance. I could unlock the cars more quickly with a
slim jim than I could pick out the correct key from a pile of keys.
Automakers have since added shields that keep honest people from opening
locked cars easily. My last few attempts at slim jimming a car were
unsuccessful.
