Another thing that many people never think about is whether or not the larger tires can accept snow chains. I know that some vehicles that could use a choice of tire sizes could not accommodate chains, even cable chains, with the larger tires because of insufficient wheel well clearance. I'd opt for the 17" tires if available. I'm surprised that they're even that big, I'd have thought they'd be 16".

If the aspect ratio of the 17" and 19" tires were the same, then all other things being equal, the larger tires would theoretically give a better ride but the 19" option on the Highlander has a lower aspect ratio so the ride improvement is negated. -- Ray O (correct punctuation to reply)
From: ron on 1 Dec 2009 23:35 Hope you can find one w/o 19" tires. I could not get the specified 19" locally and had to go to a bit larger. (255 vs 245) AND I like Michelin cross-terrains and Michelin doesn't make a 19" tire. So wound up paying thru the nose for Toyo's. So good luck, -- Merry Christmas Ron
