Are all you folks that are apposed to drilling off shore prepared to pay $7
or $8 a gallon for the gas you will NEED for many years to come?

A bogus either-or choice from you as usual. ALL the oil pumped out of
"U.S." oil wells MUST go to the OPEC market and therefore oil pumped
from "U.S." oil wells must be sold for the OPEC price per barrel. We
don't get to "keep" our own oil.

The real choices are to increase the wind and solar electricity
footprint in the U.S., raising CAFE standards to make more hybrids
feasible, investigate Thorium nuclear electricity-generating plants.

You have such a narrow view of the world. It was a good thing all
your employees had a much broader perspective on life.

Get real! I don't know your background but it is obviously not economics,
science or energy. In case you haven't noticed, every time the CAFE was
raised the price of gas went UP, not down. If the worlds total amount of
available crude goes down the price goes up, dummy. It is, and has always
been, supply and demand that determines the price of every commodity in the
world.

Wind, solar, etc will not replace the uses the world has for the COMPONENTS
of crude, in a lifetime or more, and the cost will be even higher than if we
used a carbon base source like crude. The worlds economy DEPENDS on oil,
period, and it will for at least the next 75 years or more.

Of course nuclear power is the answer to our electrical energy needs but we
will still need the products that come from crude oil. It would be far
cheaper to get those products from the abundance of coal here in the US. We
live on a carbon based planet for goodness sake.
