From: Robert A Rivard on 10 Mar 2007 15:24 Check engine light came on today and I had it the code checked at the local auto store. Came up as a P 1175 code, "Cam control Fault". The person at the store didn't seem to know much about it. I can't get anyone to look at until next week and I need to travel about 500 miles to pick up my daughter. my queston is will it do ant harm to the engine driving it and does anyone have any information on what the problem is and how to correct it? Car seems to be running fine.
From: Wayne55dud on 10 Mar 2007 17:30 That's strange. My OBD list shows that code as applying to BMW and Hyundai. Disconnect the battery ground wire for a few minutes to clear the computer and then hook it back up. Then if the code comes back then you have something wrong. Occasionally a code will come up and mean nothing. I recently had a misfire on cyl 6 CE code but it went away by itsekf after a few days. From: johngdole on 11 Mar 2007 01:42 P1175 seems to mean different things to different manufacturers. If it's the cam sensor or other covered engine internal parts, then your car may still be covered under the 5/60 powertrain warranty. If so get it fixed for free.
