A lot of painful lessons on the list...

| A lot of painful lessons on the list...

I've owned (in chronological order):

1.) 1964 Ford Falcon Futura 6 cyl. 4-door sedan, royal blue
2.) 1963 Mercury Monterey, black with white leather interior
3.) 1973 VW SuperBeetle, bright yellow
4.) 1979 Mercury Capri (what a great car!) hatchback, silver/black
5.) 1984 Nissan Sentra 4-door sedan, white
6.) 1987 Toyota Minivan 4WD, white
7.) 1990 Subaru Justy 5-door hatchback, silver

Interestingly, cars #1, 2, 3, 4 & 7 each had 19k miles on the odometer when
I got them. The first two had automatic transmissions, which I learned to
dislike. #s 5 & 6 I bought brand new. If I had known how expensive the
little Justy would be to maintain, I might have passed on it - especially
since the Nissan with a much larger car with a larger engine got much better
gas mileage.

I'm still driving the '87 Toyota but at the moment it's got a hose leaking
on the back of the engine block. I've been trying to cut an access hole in
the body behind the engine to fix it but it's taking forever using a dremel
tool with a small cutting wheel.

Thanks for not letting my thread die a slow death. I miss my Fords
and it seems you liked them when you were younger too. My ford panel
van was a stick and we went to all the concerts in Philly and NY in
it. I was about 19 when I spun it on the sure-kill expressway in
Philly on the way home from one. Many of my crew said they'd never
ride with me again after that. Most of them ate their words.

I'd like to try a ford again. But I've had so much fortune with my
camry, I doubt I'll do it.. But if I were to come into a windfall I'd
put one in my stable out of curiosity and nostalgia.
