About a year ago I was able to purchase a Bosal Catback assembly from one of the online warehouses for $125 with a lifetime warranty. It took me all of about 45 minutes to change it out on my Toyota 4x4 and I didn't even have to lift the truck. I purchased mine through Autoparts Warehouse but it did take about 3 weeks for delivery. Another good source for parts is Rockauto.com, they usually have parts from multiple manufacturers and a very good search tool.

Stainless steel is the way to go no doubt about it. A complete SS exhaust system including muffler should cost about $450-500. A complete standard system would cost about $225-300. (Yes, Toyotas system is OEM and last the same amount of time your original did, and that's why it cost a premium). But considering that a stainless system should last twice as long as Toyota's system (and 2-3 times as long as others), it's a very good investment if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time. Labor is where you're getting hit and is probably costing about $125-175. Now try imagining paying labor multiple times for multiple standard exhaust systems and you'll see it's really a no-brainer. If you can't install the system yourself, you could try finding some local gear head kids to do it for you for half the cost regular shops cost. The removal and install is really not that difficult at all. Shouldn't take anymore than 2 - 2 1/2 hours in a driveway. |
