my transmision is mesed up i had it out and apart to the point of the
reduction gear. (no gears were removed). for other resons but when i
put it back in it is stuck in revers even though the shifter is in the
newtral position. what could be rong? it is an 1984 G52 4x4

ya but what and how. the rear casing was removed then put back on with
no chang exept for swiching it in than out of revers. but only the
linkage came out of revers.

Then that's what you screwed up. If it worked until you broke it, then you
broke it. If it wasn't working, and it's still not working, then you didn't
fix it.
