hi to you all my name is roy and i drive a 1989 toyota 22r pickup 2
wheel drive. i just finish overhaulling my truck i slap on a 283 comp
cams, port and polish my head both the intake and exchaust, 45 webber
sidedraft , headers i think short stack, 15lb flywheel, 5 speed
trans. and also change my pinon on my defrencial. its seems pretty
fast but my problem is when ever i try to race it would bug or stall
on me at 4,500 rpm, why is that? and when i shift to the next gear
when it reaches 4500rpm it does the same thing. what can the problem
be? i try changing my fuel pump to a stronger one, i change me spark
plugs platnum, msd coil, 8mm msd wires. and still does not perform
right. please anybody help me... thanks

What is manifold vacuum at idle?

Check to make sure that the ignition timing advances with engine RPM.

Can it no load rev to 4500, I would just offer a guess its electrical
as in the computer module, but dont just relace it, it should be easy
enough to have a simple spark tester and extend wires into the cab to
see if spark fails at 4500 while racing. If not spark set up a fuel
pressure gauge in the dash. If not those could it be the cam. Maybe
even a timing light would work to see in there is spark at 4500
