I saw a Prius today in city driving with emissions coming out of its
tailpipe. I wish there were some environmentalists riding with me.

They would probably like the system used to measure tailpipe emissions in an
EPA certified lab. The tailpipe exhaust passes through a fancy analyzer,
and the gas that some out of the analyzer is stored in what looks like 3'
diameter condoms or balloons.

Why? The tailpipe is the place where emissions are supposed to be coming
out. It's called "exhaust."
