Just like a dealer will charge 100$ for a 10$ electrical switch, the reason is they Can charge you whatever they want.

Yes, but this wasn't a dealer -- Independent mechanic that ordered the part from the auto parts store.

There is an aftermarket one on rockauto.com that's about $140 + shipping. But a mechanic will typically sell you at the "suggested retail price" and maybe plus a mark-up. That's where a lot of the profit is besides labor charges. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=488402 On May 15, 3:38 am, Ravi Ravi <ravi.frem...(a)gmail.com> wrote: > Camry 2004 LE 4 cylinder > > The speedometer stopped working and I had the Transmission Speed > Sensor replaced > > Cost of Sensor: $220 > > Why are the Camry Transmission Speed Sensors so expensive? |
