Weird Toyota Comercial

White on 8 Sep 2009 08:24 Toyota runs this weird Prius commercial with people in green and yellow and red costumes and they sort of open up as a Prius towing a sort of sun like object passes by. Cute, but sort of like a bad acid trip too. In the background they play a sort of repetitive beat. I know they didn't mean it like this, but if you just sort of say dumb, dumb, dumb...in time to the music, it really fits. My Son and me first noticed this more than a month ago when the commercial first appeared. The other night when myself and the SO (a confirmed Toyotaite) were watching TV, this particular Prius commercial came on for about the 10th time that night. I couldn't help myself and I just started doing the dumb,,,dumb,,,dumb thing in time to the commercial's music. The SO burst out laughing and wondered aloud why the Toyota ad guys had made such a silly mistake. Try it, say dumb, dumb dumb... in time to the commercial's music. It really does seem natural. Is someone at Toyota ad central trying to sabotage the Prius with subliminal messages? Ed

VW was very successful with their "cute" ads. Around here, if I check out who's driving 100 VWs, 99 will be young women. I doubt it was the "drivers wanted" commercials that made them buy. At the beginning just start going dumb..dumb..dumb..in time to the backgroud vocals or whatever that repetitive background sound is..it fits perfectly! Ed
