Palin's advocacy for offshore drilling in her Missouri speech was not the first time she emphasized that her pro-drilling would not be dissuaded by the Gulf Coast spill. On Friday, the ex-Alaska governor took to her Facebook page to make her position on the issue crystal clear: [ Alaskans understand the tragedy of an oil spill, and we've taken steps to do all we can to prevent another Exxon tragedy, but we are still pro-development. [...] I repeat the slogan "drill here, drill now" not out of naivete or disregard for the tragic consequences of oil spills - my family and my state and I know firsthand those consequences. ] BP has a max liability of 25 million IIRC. Per what the rethugs did to the laws of the US. Probably cheaper (excluding PR) for them to just pay the 25 million & let it leak. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRvsz83f_Og&feature=player_embedded "Oil Rig Blown Up On Purpose! That was not the plan. They new he could win it so they put their efforts towards having an inside voice. If you're a leading corporation you funnel the money to the team you think is destined to win. It rarely is to get them in - that cost WAY more to pull off. You can bet they switched teams when they saw the Repubs heading south in the poles. This has happened since the beginning of lobbying. Now should the Dems camp turned down the money? Should the Republicans turn down the money when conservationists lobby them? It's all about getting your voice heard by the one who's in power. -- Bill |
