But, timing is everything. Years ago, I bought stock in Jack-in-the-Box (a fast food joint) after they had sold some ecoli-tainted burgers in Washington. The stock price fell through the floor AFTER they were sued by the customers that got sick. Or, the stock price fell first, then they got sued. But whatever. The point is, I felt they had a good product and a good business plan, so I bought stock at about $3.00/share. I kept the stock until the share price got to about $25, then sold and bought my first BMW for cash. It was a used BMW, but the point is I turned about $1000 into about $10,000 by buying after the same sort of disaster that has hit Toyota. If you think that Toyota will suffer legal losses as a result of the lives lost through the sticking-gas-pedal fiasco, then it might not be a good time to buy. If you think that Toyota has suffered all of the losses that it is exposed to, then now would be a great time to buy.

Why take the risk. Toyota could have lawsuits for years. You have no idea, so skip the stock idea. By AAPL stock instead. A great stock getting greater.
