Another recall, don't know how many units it affects, but just the fact
there is yet another recall does not bode well for the automaker.

If Toyota were smart, they'd go back to the way they were making cars in
the 80's to get the confidence in their brand back again. Of course, this
is going cost more per unit to make each car.

But Toyota is also not in a position to raise prices right now, either.
The perception among Joe Six-packers is going to be, "They're selling
JUNK, and they're going to RAISE prices?!?!"

Of course, Government Motors got away with this for years, because they
could. Toyota in the US, although they sell a lot of cars here and have a
large following it still struggling to be the #1 seller in the US, and all
of thisis not going to fare well for them.

Look for bargains coming from Toyota again...

If you already have a Toyota, don't expect to sell it at the premiums
their used cars were going for before.

I wish they'd do a Celica like the last one. I just missed buying one. I
know the torqueless thing was something of a chore to dive but it fit me
like a glove. Curiously, the one I test drove had a major CLUNK from the
front somewhere. Dealer seemed to think that was normal for a Celica so
I passed. Maybe that experience was a harbinger of things to come.
Anyway, if I wanted the Camry/Corolla experience, I'd just buy the real
thing - a Buick.

They had a RED! GT and a silver GTS on the local lot. I took the red GT
out ($12,990) and passed on the GTS ($17,995) because of the $5000
difference. I got to drive a couple GTS models while I was working for a
dealer. WOW!!

The GT had a kind of quirky feel in the rear, and I pointed it out. She
said she'd have it looked over and get back to me.

They looked it over, fixed it an RAISED THE PRICE $1,000!!!
$14,000 for a 6 year old car w/58,000 miles. NOPE!

I went to the nearest (42 miles away) Scion dealer and picked up a 1 year
old tC w/11,000 on it for $15,000.

I HATE THE SEATING POSITION!!!!!!!!!

Yup...the Celica fit like a glove...

Perhaps that's because the Scion is marketed for teenagers, keeps them
out of the real car. Teens are more flexible than you or I.

No! It's like sitting at a kitchen table!

I LIKE the semi reclined position in my Supra, Celica, Corolla!
Driving while sitting at a desk SUCKS!
