From: C. E. White on 26 Jan 2010 18:45 From http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/01/26/business/main6144294.shtml?tag=stack - "Toyota has instructed U.S. dealerships to suspend sales of eight car and truck models with accelerators that stick. "The company said last week that it is recalling 2.3 million of the affected models, in which the gas pedal can stay depressed or return to quickly to idle - the latest in a string of quality problems that have bedeviled the Japanese automaker. "The recall affects the 2009-2010 RAV4, the 2009-2010 Corolla, the 2009-2010 Matrix, the 2005-2010 Avalon, the 2007-2010 Camry, the 2010 Highlander, the 2007-2010 Tundra and the 2008-2010 Sequoia."
From: C. E. White on 26 Jan 2010 18:48 I should have figured that when I talked my Mother into buying a Highlander, there would be a problem..... I may single handedly be responsible for crashing Toyota... Ed "C. E. Does it seem reasonable that all these different models can have the same problem with accelerator pedals? I mean they all seem to be significantly different in that area. I took a good look at my Mother's Highlander and I don't see how the pedal can get stuck. And I can't tell any difference in the gas pedals between my SO's 2007 RAV4 (not recalled) and a 2009 RAV4 (recalled). Is there something else linking all these models? Ed

I am not that sure it is the accelerator. It likely is the computer program. It is the same for all those vehicles. The program is defective in some way where it causes unintended acceleration.
