<YAWN> No other car maker ever had a throttle stick.
Should we talk about automatic transmissions that AUTOMATICALLY shifted
themselves into Reverse? and all the government required was a sticker on
the dash?

What to see John go running for cover?

CORVAIR!!! CORVAIR!!! CORVAIR!!!

So what are you trying to say - a 2010 Toyta is almost as good as a 1978
Ford?

Or that a 2010 Toyota is marginally better than a 1960 Crvair?

Weak.

My opinion is that this whole sticky accelerator pedal is way overblown if
the problem is really only what is being reported. But then that was true
for the Ford transmission problem and especially true for the Corvair.
Corvairs were far safer than VW Bettles of that era, or most other imported
cars, yet Ralph "The Trial Lawyers Best Friend" Nader picked on the Corvair.
I wonder why...Oh wait, GM was a g juicy target for scum sucking trial
lawyers. Welcome to the club Toyota - you are now the big juicy target.

If Toyota isn't paying you - they should.

After the number of trouble-free Toyotas I have owned, yeah, I still like
them. They were bound to have a problem. They will fix it, and it will be
a long time before they make another mistake. Not like GM, where there is
a recall issued on almost every new model, and quite a few of them severe.

People still cheer GM, even after a number of models had conditions where
they would catch fire. Same goes for Ford.

All in all, in terms of numbers of safety recalls, I'll still roll the
dice with Toyota before GM.

Remember the Toyota "door handle"?

A woman was ejected from her boyfriend's Toyota pickup truck, claiming the
door handle was defective. She was suing Toyota for $4M. Toyota settled
out of court for $1.2M

Problem was her boyfriend was drunk and ran the truck into the old style
post and wire guard rails before the door gave up and popped open.

I wonder how many of these cases are just plain STUPIDITY?
