Please return the car to the dealer and ask the dealer. It should still
be warranty. 1 litre of oil in 4000 mi is too much for a car with only
29,000 km (19,000 mi).

Hi Paulie,

What color is the smoke when overtaking vehicles?

When you say that the grade of oil is the 5W-40 original, are you saying
that the oil is the original oil that came with the car o that the oil is
what the Toyota dealer uses when changing the oil? Hopefully, your local
Toyota dealer knows to use oil rated for diesels.

No, it's not.
But may be you should use a "heavyer" oil, that has become a known cure for
these new diesels here.
I guess Ray knows much more about that.
Are you doing mostly short trips? Does it have particle filter? That may
influence the oil consumption.
