Left 98' Corolla sit for 6 mo. found the only problem when we returned was a
dead battery. Would it be better to disconnect it when we left, leave a
trickle charger on it, or just charge it up when we return?

By far the best thing would be a battery "maintainer" not a trickle
charger.
