NOW you're asking a lot!

Orange peel is the bane of my existence.
Of course, I've only painted four cars in my life, and it takes a little
practice, but the variables include what reducer you used, how much paint
you put down, what the temperature was (and again reflecting on the type
of reducer) and the quality and pressure of the air.

Now, my Mazda has been in an accident in it's life, and the fender and
hood have been replaced, and I wish I could find who painted them, because
that person was a *MASTER*. Not a spot of peel, and a finish as smooth as
glass. The best repair paint job I have ever seen.

Check for things that seem unrelated to the accident: cruise control,
power windows and so on. When we wrecked our Avalon, it looked like
they had done a great job restoring it to its former self but the
cruise wouldn't work.

Too much orange peel can be fixed by wet sanding but if the repaired area is
smoother than the factory finish, then it will look uneven.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will make sure my regular mechanic
checks the steering and check the paint job and other work. I am
hoping that they noticed that I have pin stripes on the side of the
car. I will also make sure that only Ford parts are used.
