You'll get a hint of that when you start seeing an MIL with P03xx codes.
And even then it probably won't be the coils, but something else instead.

It's got 161k on it and I replaced the wires and plugs 35k miles ago
and had to do it again last week. I'd rather do it over thanksgiving
than take a day off from work. I have a compact seasonal work schedule
and missing an unplanned day tending to it would be much more costly
than the price of the parts.....

Also the manual says on the 4 cyl. you can't really test them.

<JS>
I'm missing something. If you replaced WIRES ... 35k ago, then you have no
coil packs. Well, I suppose you could have two of them, one for each two
plugs. You'd have wires in that case.

I don't know how Toyota does it, my nieghbor's Camry has a distributor and
wires. My car has coil packs, but there are six of them, so no wires -- and
my car is not a Toyota.

I think I'll take you guys' advice and leave it alone. I guess I'm
just not used to going so long without wrenching SOMETHING on a
car..LOL.. This is nuts..in a good way.

<JS>
A '94 BMW. I could be wrong, but I recall my kid's Tacoma as having a coil
for each plug too. We don't have the Taco anymore, so I can't check.
