It sounds like the student who was killed while riding in the back of the first bus sustained her injuries when the second bus hit the first one. I'm no accident reconstruction expert, but I suspect that the pickup driver and student survived the first 2 impacts - pickup hits semi tractor and bus hits pickup, and then the impact from the second bus crushed the pickup and fatally injured the student at the back of the first bus. -- Ray O (correct punctuation to reply)
