Perhaps, but understand that the reason Florida is suffering so badly is the wild speculation in real estate that was driven by the economic policies of former governor Jeb Bush, considered one of the worst governors in Florida's history (right up there with Claude Kirk). He and his developer buddies structured the state's economy so it was dependent on massive numbers of new residents buying the cheaply manufactured homes in the new developments, not using any state benefits, and working at low wage jobs. There was a good article about this earlier this year in the New Yorker Magazine. "The Ponzi State, Florida's Foreclosure Disaster," by Charles Packer." Not available online without a subscription.
