From: Jane Galt on 5 May 2010 15:44 Does anyone know the bulb numbers and wattages for the instrument panel bulbs in a 1993 Corolla and a 2002 Corolla? I'm wondering if they're the same? The 93 needs a bulb behind the speedometer and the 2002 needs a new bulb behind the tach and one behind the vent control rotary switch. Someone suggested awhile back, replacing them all at once, even though only one is burned out, because of the cost of labor, but a local mechanic says that there are 8 bulbs behind just the instrument cluster in the 2002. Does that sound right? -- - Jane Galt

Does that sound right? I have 4 cars over 20 years old. I have had to replace 2 bulbs. THe usual ones are #93, IIRC. However, sometimes they use a smaller bulb, but they are had to find and may have to be had from a dealer.
From: Jane Galt on 6 May 2010 00:54 Do they make LED replacements for the instrument bulbs? I'm wondering if that would be a good or bad thing? In the dash, temps get hot in the summer, which wouldnt be nice for LED's. Yet it looks like the vent selector bulb burns out more often than any in the 2002 Corolla, probably because the filament is hot and then turning that switch breaks it, so LED might be a wise design decision in that on. -- - Jane Galt
