I worked in that neighborhood for 17 years from 1968 until 1985, North
Philly, West Philly, mostly poor black and white neighborhoods. I
also grew up in intergrated streets/neighborhoods. I had direct
dealings with Black Panthers, the muslim group (forgot the name)
during the late '60's and early '70's. It didn't take long to find a
common ground.

You do know that the Black Panthers and the New Black Panthers are not
related in any way, right?

The New Black Panthers stationed men with clubs outside of a polling place,
and there are specific charges that they denied at least one voter the right
to enter so he could cast his ballot. We don't know how many others saw the
large men with big sticks, and simply went home.

You also know that the men were convicted, but the case was dropped before
sentencing, right?

The big men with sticks were convicted of voter intimidation under the Bush
Justice Department, but the Obama Justice Department decided to drop the
charges because the evidence is weak -- except there is TV News footage of
the criminal behavior.

When the charges were dropped AFTER THE CONVICTION, the men were told that
they could not hang out in front of a polling place until 2012, at which
time it is presumed they can drag the big sticks from the basement and go
intimidate voters again.
