High cost, incredibly inefficient high speed passenger rail (light rail,
too) is a symptom or example of the problem. not the solution. It is
not an exaggeration to suggest that it would be cheaper to give every
subsidized rider a free car. Passenger rail must pay for itself to be
truly successful ... and, with some exceptions, it is nothing more than
a grossly ineffective money pit, requiring huge initial cost and endless
major government subsidies to survive. Freight railways are normally
efficient and make sense. Passenger rail requiring massive subsidies
