Sadly, here in Deep East Texas, if you don't get > your beans in by the end of May, most years, you don't eat beans. I got mine in the first week of June so I'm hoping. It was just too rainy and wet before that. We also don't have a very long growing season and of course, being at the coast, we also get salt in the air.
