Hi, hoping someone has an easy answer to this.

My '96 camry has new front rotors and pads from Sept.'07 but now I get a
squeal that only starts in the afternoon or when there has been no rain
for a couple of days. In the morning the brakes are quiet and the
commute takes an hour (27km distance). But in the afternoon on the way
home barely halfway back and they will squeal each time used. The squeal
is louder the more I drive. Rainy days no problem, even damp days. That
can't be from worn pads can it??

Generally disk brake squeal is quieted by the application of an
adhesive sealant at the backing plate to dampen vibrations during
application.
Another cause can be brake pad glazing where the brakes are only used
very gently and a shiny glaze develops on the friction pad surface. A
few firm stops in succession, without coming to a complete stop, from
around 60 mph, should remove the glaze.
It is recommended you only slow to approximately 5 mph then repeat
because repeated braking also heats the pads and the adhesive binder
can transfer to the metal disc rotor when pressed hot in one place
resulting in symptoms mimicking a warped rotor as the resulting
imprint on the rotor leaves a very small raised portion encountered
subsequently by the pads at each disc rotation.

Ok, thanks for this answer. It worked (the hard braking)!
