From: Michael on 8 Feb 2010 15:00 Hi all, I've got a '96 Camry (174k miles). The tires are pretty worn (via the quarter/Washington's head method). The struts (shocks?) are also shot... BUT, since we're not sure how much longer we're going to keep the car, we're hesitant to spend $1000 to upgrade the shocks. (Car handles just fine, if it rides a bit rough, and the shocks aren't leaking.) I sure don't have the skills to change the shocks myself. The '96 Camry uses the P195 70R14 90H tires. My wife has a '99 Camry with good tires, P195 70 R14 90S. We're sure we want to keep the '99 (< 98k miles). I'm thinking of putting the good tires from the 99 on the 96, putting the worn tires from the 96 on the 99, and taking the 99 to Costco for 4 new tires. Is this a bad idea? Is it ok to mix 90S from the '99 to the 96, where the manual specs 90H? Thanks, Michael

If you don't plan on driving it for more than a few minutes above 110MPH (heh) then you can use the S rated tires if they are still in good enough shape and not too old.
