From: Chas Gill on 3 Sep 2009 03:55 The voice guidance on my 2010 - even at the loudest setting (7 on a scale of 1 - 7) is still barely audible over the radio at moderate volume. Does anyone know of a user-accessible tweak that can improve this situation? Cheers Chas

I just sold my 2004 Prius and replaced it with a 2010. The nav volume is roughly the same. ...Pat

For example, one female voice says "In half a mile turn left on" and another, distinctly different female voice at a lower volume says "US Highway 10." The first voice speaks slowly and distinctly, the second voice speaks quickly, running the words together. There was a single voice at a constant volume on my 2005.

There is says "Press SETUP Panel Button, then VOICE, then select VOICE VOLUME 1 through 7"

The 2010 has text-to-speech, that allows it to say road names; the previous versions only used pre-recorded words and phrases. So the voice sounds different when it's using synthesized speech vs. canned words, such as "route", "miles", "two", etc. Yes, I've noticed that it runs words together, so for instance "West Main" would be pronounced "Westmain".
