That wouldn't be the first time Toyota's factory standards were higher
than Ford's.

I use u-nuts/u-clips/j-nuts over the broken spot welds in the shields
because I can't weld, and I don't feel like drilling screw holes under
the car. The barbed ones seem to hold forever:

Those clips probably result in a better repair than stainless bailing wire,
but I never seem to have them handy when I need them.
