From: Brent Patterson on 16 Jan 2010 16:15 I have a 2003 Toyota Avalon. The wiper blades do not rest in the end area when turned off; however, the wipers work fine when in use. Any ideas? Brent

The Avalon has wipers that come from the pass side towards the driver's side, right? Wiper arms sometimes have a nut that holds them to the pinion, and sometimes they are pressed on. The end of the arm is a kind of attached cap that can be pried up (carefully! These things are nasty on fingers!) and expose the nut. You can loosen the nut, pull off the wiper arm, move it over ONE spline and reattach the nut. Over the course of years things may have gotten out of alignment futher down the chain; this is the easy way to realign everything (like removing the steering whel on pre-airbag cars and moving it one spline was a good way to realign the steering wheel to the correct position...) It may not have a nut, and may just pull off. Do everything gently so you don't move too far from the original position. Quick, easy and cheap...not necessarily correct...

It takes a pretty fair amount of downward pressure and it feels like you are going to break the arm but it should pop back down. -- Ray O (correct punctuation to reply)
