If I were driving with a wall in front of me all the time, that would be
fine. LOL

In a perfect world, there would never be a wall in front of you unless you
were parked.

You want to set the lights to a known condition, 25 feet away, 25 inches up.
If you do this, it takes 5 minutes and works 99% of the time. You might have
to fine tune, but probably not.

You will be far happier if you aim the lights the way I described than to
use the hit-or-miss method that you describe. Seriously, take the car behind
the supermarket and put some tape on the wall.

There is nothing worse for me than to have poorly aimed lights following me
down the highway. This is even worse than poorly aimed lights coming at me,
because the lights coming at me eventually pass, but the ones following me
are there for a long time.

I'm with Jeff. Aim against a wall if you do not have headlight aimers, then
you can double-check your aim without the wall.
