The good side: these were used in a LOT of Toyota vehicles (the link above is to a Toyota van from 1989) so there may be a few laying around in junkyards...

Ya think??? ;) There's the coupler, then an intermediate cable, and then the main cable. I kept seeing "Cable 1" listed for $12. Nah, couldn't be! Nope, wasn't. That's the short cable. I haven't really investigated this, but when I was asking around about it everyone said, That little adapter that plugs into the tranny goes bad. Maybe I'll luck out and the $12 cable is the broken link...but I doubt it.
